Desktop Services Specialist

Global company looking for Desktop Services Specialist, internal role.Hays is recruiting a Desktop Services Technician to provide hands-on IT support within an internal, Microsoft-based technical environment.

You'll install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers and endpoint devices, administer Microsoft 365 and Windows services, and resolve user issues through the Service Desk. We're looking for someone proactive who takes ownership of problems and fixes them at the root cause.

The roleYou'll be the technical backbone of the desktop environment, supporting a Microsoft-centric estate across laptops, desktops, printers, copiers, scanners and endpoints. It's hands-on, varied, and ideal for someone who takes ownership and gets results.

What you'll be doing

• Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing hardware and software across the enterprise desktop environment
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues from simple to complex, then fixing the root cause
• Supporting and administering Microsoft 365, Windows, Outlook, Exchange, Teams and OneDrive
• Applying and monitoring security controls (anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware) to keep assets protected
• Managing requests through ITSM processes, escalating where needed and working with vendors to resolve issues
• Performing preventative maintenance, performance tuning and upgrades to reduce downtime
• Training and guiding end users, and documenting what you do so others can benefit
• Joining the on-call rotation (around one week every few months) and travelling occasionally to other offices (travel time and mileage compensated)

Experience required

• Hands-on experience supporting Windows 10/11 in an enterprise environment, including deployment, imaging, patching and troubleshooting
• Microsoft 365 / Office 365 administration and support, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and Outlook
• Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance policies, application deployment and endpoint management (Autopilot exposure highly regarded)
• Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) for user and group management, MFA, conditional access and device registration
• Azure fundamentals, with exposure to Azure-hosted services and resources supporting the desktop environment
• Virtualization experience, such as Hyper-V, VMware, Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP, with a working understanding of general network topologies
