Job Description - Desktop Support Officer - Audio Visual (Education)

And, as we continue to grow, we’re on the hunt for a Desktop Support Officer - Audio Visual to join our team in Melbourne to deliver high quality, onsite technical support to our customers. The role is full-time and will require you to be onsite at our customer site. 



Requirements

What You'll Do:

  • Support and maintain classroom AV systems including interactive panels, projectors, audio systems, microphones, display technologies, and wireless presentation systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV-related incidents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all learning spaces are operational at the start of each school day.
  • Maintain documentation of classroom AV configurations.
  • Provide AV setup and operational support for school assemblies, chapel services, information nights, parent-teacher interviews, productions and performances, and board and executive meetings.
  • Configure staging, lighting (where applicable), projection, and audio mixing for events.
  • Operate sound desks, lapel microphones, and presentation systems during events.
  • Coordinate event testing and rehearsals.
  • Maintain and support auditorium AV systems, PA systems, digital signage, and video conferencing systems.
  • Monitor AV asset lifecycle and recommend upgrades.
  • Work with the IT Site Lead on AV roadmap planning and standardisation.
  • Liaise with third-party AV vendors for maintenance and installations.
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 desktop support as required.
  • Support staff and student devices in relation to AV integration.
  • Assist with meeting room technologies and executive conferencing systems.
  • Maintain accurate ticket logging and time recording within the service desk platform.
  • Conduct regular checks of key AV spaces.
  • Proactively identify recurring issues and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain spare equipment inventory including cables, microphones, and adapters.
  • Develop quick-reference guides for staff use.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience supporting AV systems in education or corporate environments.
  • Familiarity with interactive displays, audio mixers and amplification systems, HDMI distribution and switching, wireless display technologies, and Microsoft Teams / Zoom Rooms.
  • Basic networking knowledge, with IP-based AV experience desirable.
  • Ability to diagnose signal flow issues and perform audio/video path troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to IT and non-IT stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and commitment to meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure during live events.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise urgent classroom issues effectively.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support key school events as required.
  • Relevant IT or Audio Visual qualification (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience providing AV support.
  • Current Working With Children Check or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Understanding of education environments preferred.
