Digital Network Engineer

The Digital Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the company's network infrastructure to ensure robust, secure and reliable communication and data transfer.

Key Responsibilities 

• Help design, install, configure, and maintain network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. 
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, availability and security issues. 
• Perform network backup and restore operations, as well as patching and upgrading of operating systems, network software and firmware. 
• Implement and enforce network policies and standards, such as access control, encryption, and authentication. 
• Provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT staff on network-related matters. 
• Document network architecture, configuration and procedures including network qualification documentation 
• Actively support the execution of qualification and computer validation activities 
• Support site continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices 
• Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the field of network engineering. 

Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required. 
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in network engineering, administration or support. 
• Previous experience in pharmaceutical or chemical industry (or similar) will be well regarded.

Required Functional/Technical Knowledge

• Project Management methodologies 
• Software Development Life Cycle methodologies 
• Continuous Improvement methodologies (i.e, Six Sigma) 
• Management of IT infrastructure (i.e., ITIL) 
• Understanding of Purdue Model for ICS 
• GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory experience well regarded (but not essential)  
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP 
• Experience with network security technologies, including firewalls and VPNs. 
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills. 
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, such as TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, NAT, etc. 
• Proficient in using network tools and software, such as Cisco IOS, Wireshark, SolarWinds, etc. 
• Certification in network vendor or technology, such as CCNA, CCNP, Network+, etc., is preferred. 
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks and projects.
