We are seeking an enthusiastic and fun person to fulfil the duties as a member of our digital production crew at our head quarters, based in Culburra Beach, NSW. 
East Coast Canning has purchased the first direct to can digital printer in Australia, removing the need for labelling of cans (and the >20 Tonnes of plastic waste per annum associated). This technology has never been available to the Australian can beverage industry (and is only 5 years old in the US). It has removed the need for customers to commit to large numbers of stock, increasing the flexibility and creativity customer branding. This machine can and will open up so many opportunities for the craft brewery and boutique beverage industry that we are very excited about and want you to be a part of. 

This role is perfect for someone with a manufacturing background looking for change, packaging experience, printing experience, warehousing experience, brewing knowledge/experience or if you have the ability to work with complex machinery. All that said, we are happy to talk to anyone with a strong work ethic and passion. You would be working alongside and be supported by our supply team leader and our digital pre-press team leader.

The rostering for this position will be a 4 days on/4 days off - averaging 38 hours per 4 day ‘work week’. Staff will be rotated between a morning shift and an afternoon/evening shift on a 3-6month rotation. Staff will be paid an annual salary, which is well above the award rate and incorporates all penalty and shift loadings.

Roles and responsibilities

• Work as part of ECC's team to meet customer timeframes and filling dates
• Safe and Efficient Operation of Hinterkopf D240.2 Digital Direct to Can Printer after appropriate training
• Safe and Efficient Operation of accessory machinery after appropriate training
• Daily QA Procedures for machine
• Preventative machine maintenance
• Review quality of printed cans and maintain high standards
• The ability to work autonomously and efficiently
• Able to work remotely without supervision
• Constant clear and concise communication with all members of the team
• Immediately advise Supply Team Leader, Prepress Team Leader and GM of errors or issues with jobs
• Efficiently pack and secure all outgoing pallets
• Job sheets and address label printing and checks
• Courier booking and preparation
• Safe operation of Forklift
• Receiving and loading of goods
• Movement of pallets of cans around the warehouse
• Safe driving of company vehicles
• Maintain customer satisfaction at all times
• Produce high quality work ensuring customers are stocked with their product
• Lead QA practices:
• Act professionally and responsibly at all times
• Comply with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), OH&S, and QA/QC practices.

Key Attributes, Skills and Experience

• Good communication skills are required above all else.
• A customer focussed, 'can do' attitude is essential for us to serve our customers.
• You will sometimes work long hours, but also have time off. Flexibility is key to this role.
• Morning and Afternoon shifts are available
• You will need a calm and friendly demeanour, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Patience and focus during sometimes long and repetitive working days. We aim to create a safe but fun working environment so that we take the pain out of packaging for our customers.
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is an advantage. Particularly packaging of carbonated beverages and/or the beer, cider, wine manufacturing industries.
• Individuals with engineering or trade backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
• Some experience or passion for brewing and/or craft beer would help.
• Responsibility around alcohol is key. We work hard and play hard but knowing when it's appropriate is critical.
• Holds a forklift licence
