Two fixed-term Director - Buying opportunities have become available to lead ALDI’s grocery categories, based at our Minchinbury head office up until December 2027. 

This is a unique opportunity to play a defining role in shaping the future of ALDI’s Grocery offering, leading category strategy across both our core range and special buys. Reporting to the Group Director – Buying and leading a team of up to five, you will bring strong commercial acumen, market insight and strategic focus to deliver meaningful growth, strengthen financial performance and help curate the products our customers know and love. 

What will you be responsible for?

• Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing team culture to deliver exceptional results. 
• Drive sales and profitability through effective range management. 
• Effectively manage supplier relationships and key stakeholders to achieve optimal buying outcomes, including on time delivery of product and consistent product quality.   
• Analyse data and identify trends and opportunities across ALDI’s grocery categories 
• Provide strategic recommendations to the Group Director- Buying on new product development/trials/retails/deletions. 
• Regularly sample range and competitor products to ensure competitiveness of the portfolio. 
• Manage tender schedules in line with contract timing and strategic negotiations to achieve superior cost outcomes. 
• Management of product launches from concept to delivery within set timeframes. 
• Liaise with ALDI’s Global Sourcing Office on harmonised products, forecasting and contract management.

• Extensive buying experience at a comparable leadership level within the FMCG or grocery sector, bringing the commercial confidence and category expertise to make an immediate impact. 
• Proven ability to lead through change, bringing teams and stakeholders on the journey with clarity, resilience and purpose. 
• A strong people leader who knows how to engage, motivate and empower teams to deliver high performance. 
• Demonstrated expertise in supplier negotiations, with the ability to balance quality, value and commercial outcomes. 
• Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence senior leaders, navigate diverse perspectives and build alignment around positive outcomes. 
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret business performance, market trends and customer insights to shape category strategy.
