  • Lead complex, high-profile Corporate Finance transactions
  • Develop and inspire a high-performing team
  • Drive growth across our Major Client Group business

Do work that matters

Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate Finance, you will be responsible for originating and executing the largest and most complex transactions in Major Client Group (MCG). You will work closely with MCG relationship teams nationally to identify transaction opportunities with existing clients, as well as within the broader M&A advisory market. This is also an important people leadership role, with responsibility for leading and developing a team of three direct reports. You will play a key role in building capability, fostering a high-performance culture, and creating an environment where individuals can thrive and deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

The role has accountability for delivering revenue and balance sheet growth targets, while effectively managing client risk and supporting the broader MCG business to lift capability and performance.

More specifically you will:
  • Support the MCG network to identify and originate event-driven finance transactions from within the client base
  • Drive deal origination through ownership of the debt advisory segment of the market
  • Generate and present strategic financing ideas to clients and identify growth opportunities across the MCG portfolio
  • Lead transaction execution including deal structuring, process management, documentation and selected post-deal management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, referral sources and internal stakeholders
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of high-performing finance professionals, providing regular feedback, mentoring and development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, navigating complex stakeholder interactions and challenging conversations with confidence and professionalism

We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Significant experience in client leadership roles within a major commercial or investment bank
  • Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of coaching, developing and inspiring high-performing teams
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, build trust and manage complex conversations across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability in delivering effective coaching conversations, providing constructive feedback and developing talent
  • A background in Leveraged Finance, Project Finance or Corporate Advisory, with strong credit risk and execution experience
  • Strong sales leadership capability and a proven ability to originate transaction opportunities
  • A successful track record of building and leveraging relationships with senior client executives
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Business or Finance (MBA, Masters Finance, CFA) and/or professional accounting qualifications (CA, CPA)

This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded leader who combines strong transaction expertise with exceptional people leadership capabilities. You'll have the opportunity to shape client outcomes, develop future talent and make a meaningful impact on the growth and success of our Corporate Finance business.

If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application. We're keen to support you with the next step in your career.
