Global Markets Trading partners across the Group to design, price and deliver risk management and hedging solutions for institutional clients. Within this, the COO FIC Trading team plays a pivotal role in enabling the Fixed Income & Currency (FIC) franchise to operate efficiently, safely and at scale: ensuring strong governance, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across a diverse product set.

Your impact

As a Director in the FIC Trading COO team, you will be a trusted partner to senior Trading leadership, supporting the execution of strategy and ensuring the business operates with strong commercial, risk and operational discipline.

You will sit at the intersection of trading, risk, technology and operations-driving initiatives that enhance product capability, improve processes and strengthen governance outcomes across the trading lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Trading leadership to translate strategy into executable product and business initiatives
• Lead the delivery of key initiatives, ensuring alignment to commercial objectives, risk appetite and regulatory expectations
• Drive development and enhancement of trading products, identifying market, client and regulatory opportunities
• Collaborate across Trading, COO, Risk, Technology, Finance and Operations to deliver outcomes at pace
• Improve front-to-back processes across the trade lifecycle to enhance efficiency, control and resilience
• Manage complex issues, providing clear analysis, recommendations and escalation where required
• Prepare high-quality materials to support senior decision-making and governance forums
• Proactively identify and manage risks, ensuring strong compliance and control outcomes
• Engage with external market infrastructure providers and stay abreast of regulatory and market developments

Your experience

• Relevant experience in Global Markets, ideally across Trading, Business Management, Product Control, Market Risk, Operations or Technology
• Strong knowledge of FIC products including FX, Interest Rate Derivatives, Securities Financing, Bonds and Credit
• Deep understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle
• Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced, complex environments
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior, cross-functional teams
• Commercially astute with the ability to prioritise and make sound decisions under pressure
