Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this position is accountable for coordinating the executive corporate governance functions across the University. The role provides advice to the Chancellor in the discharge of their duties as the Chair of the University’s governing body, the University Council. This position also serves as the Secretary to Council and designated committees of Council.
The position is responsible for the leadership of governance, legislative requirements and secretariat support as well as the engagement, training, and development of the broader university community, streamlining and improving governance and decision-making processes. In addition, this role leads the ongoing review and recommendation of the University’s internal governance framework to deliver continuous improvement in good governance and decision-making throughout the University.
As a member of the senior leadership team this position contributes to the management of the University’s key compliance obligations as part of the University Compliance Framework.
About You: In combination with relevant qualifications, you will have extensive experience in the development of continuous improvements and management of governance processes within a large and complex organisation. In addition, the successful applicant will have executive presence with experience in providing the appropriate governance and secretariat support to senior committees with demonstrated experience influencing internal and external stakeholders.
This role requires someone with developed critical thinking skills with demonstrated analytical and research skills backed by strong and decisive judgment.
It is important for the right person to be a self-starter with the ability to work under pressure, displaying flexibility, initiative, and decisiveness to meet work priorities within timeframes.
