Caring Approach is a dynamic, supportive, and caring organisation providing tailored in-home support and community care for older people, individuals living with disability, and people requiring short-term assistance following hospital discharge.

We are currently seeking compassionate and professional Disability Support Workers to join our team across Sydney. Regular casual shifts are available throughout:

  • Newtown
  • Narwee
  • Chiswick
  • Enfield
  • Russell Lea
  • Glebe
  • Balmain
  • North Strathfield
  • Birchgrove
  • Enmore
  • Redfern
  • Leichhardt
  • Riverwood
  • Hornsby
  • Epping
  • Hills District

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred care and support to clients living in their own homes, promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life while assisting with daily living activities and community participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including showering, bathing, dressing, and hygiene support.
  • Complete domestic assistance and household tasks.
  • Assist with meal preparation and food service.
  • Provide medication assistance.
  • Support participants with activities of daily living.
  • Transport clients to medical appointments and community activities.
  • Support participants with complex care needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the wider care team.
  • Promote participant independence through person-centred support.


Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Understanding of person-centred care practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible.
  • Certificate III or higher in Disability, Aged Care, Community Services, or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Minimum six months' experience providing personal care.
  • Ability to work with clients requiring palliative and complex care.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret service information.
  • Appropriate Australian working rights.
  • Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • Current Driver's Licence and own fully insured vehicle.
  • Smartphone capable of installing workplace applications.
  • Current knowledge of NSW Government vaccination requirements for essential workers.
  • Empathetic and understanding approach to supporting people with complex needs, including mental health.
  • Completion of the NDIS New Worker Orientation Module, or willingness to complete during induction.

Desirable

  • Ability to speak a second language.
  • Experience supporting clients to increase their independence.
  • Experience or certification in bowel care.
  • Experience or certification in medication administration.
  • Experience with manual handling.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support strategies and person-centred active support.
