Located in the heart of Western Sydney, Sydney Zoo strives to showcase a broad range of native and exotic animals using technology and advanced exhibit design, with a strong focus on animal welfare, conservation, and educating our visitors about animals and their habitats. Environmental and social awareness play a vital role in our message that highlights the indigenous culture and human influence on the environment.

The Position

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting team at Sydney Zoo in the role of Education Officer, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible.

The Education Officer will be responsible for implementing and presenting lively and engaging education programs to Sydney Zoo audiences of all ages, including school groups and the general public.

Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience

Essential

• Proven experience and passion for delivering information to groups.


• Working with children's check or willing to undertake.


• Valid driver's license.


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


• Demonstrated ability to work independently or positively contribute to a team environment.

Desirable

• A degree in education, zoology, biology, environmental science or a related field.


• Proficient in computers and Microsoft Suite.


• Previous experience/qualifications caring for and handling a variety of domestic and exotic animals.
  


• First Aid certification.
