An exciting opportunity exists for Emergency Medicine Specialist to join a busy regional hospital in Mount Isa. As part of the emergency department team, you will provide essential care to patients in an environment that offers a wide variety of cases, with telehealth support for remote locations.
In this role, you will be a Senior Medical Officer or Staff Specialist, managing emergency care, including initial assessments, urgent treatment, and critical care in a fast-paced and challenging setting. The hospital's emergency department plays a crucial role in providing 24/7 care to a diverse regional community, making it an ideal environment for professionals seeking to make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert emergency care to patients across a broad range of conditions
Offer telehealth support and advice to remote locations
Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care
Participate in the 1:3 Standby On-Call roster (paid per occurrence)
About You:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Medicine Specialist who possesses:
A relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences
Unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia
Strong clinical experience in emergency medicine, with the ability to handle diverse and critical cases
The ability to work outside of "ordinary hours," typically 10-hour shifts on an 8 on / 6 off roster (part-time options are available)
A C-Class Motor Vehicle Licence
A commitment to patient care and teamwork in a regional, rural, and remote setting
An interest in public and/or Indigenous health would be an asset (though not mandatory)
What We Offer:
Competitive remuneration: Up to $725,456 per annum (pro-rata) based on full-time equivalent value, plus additional allowances and incentives.
Attraction & Retention Incentive Allowance: 15% base annual salary + Emergency Department Specialty allowance (25%).
Professional Development: $15,000 per year towards professional development, with access to in-house training, mentorship, and career progression.
Generous Leave: 5 weeks annual recreational leave and 3.6 weeks professional development leave per year.

Requirements:
Unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia
