About The Organisation

Ground+Co is an initiative of The Underground Collaborative, a Perth-based social enterprise that builds capacity through employment, education and empowerment for people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

About The Role

As our Employment Program Support Worker, you will be responsible for the transition of our Team Members as they work through our Employment Program. You will assist in the support and management of community engagements, employer engagement and support and transition of our Team Members into education and/or employment and long-term housing outcomes.

You will be responsible for providing multiple levels of support to our Team Members as you assist them to become work ready across their time with The Underground Collaborative.

Reporting to the CEO, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing holistic, positive guidance and support, and high-quality case management to a small caseload of potentially complex and high-needs women and young people as you assist them to become work ready during their time at TUC.
  • Delivering training material as part of TUC’s Employment Program, including conducting intake assessments, coordinating work experience shifts, and conducting regular individual support.

Assistance in delivering pilot project to transition Team Members through the housing continuum in partnership with referral agencies while building job skills and capacity.

  • Coordinate and grow the delivery of a range of supports for young people (case management, coordination with specialist service providers, life skills, vocational training, on the job workplace mentoring and work experience, support transitioning into further training and/or employment).
  • Aligning the developed training material to certified qualifications where applicable, to support the ongoing learning and development of our Team Members.
  • Using your experience and training to make complex and professional judgements and have excellent personal/professional boundaries.
  • Providing tailored wrap-around support in an empathetic but direct manner.
  • Providing support to our Core Team and Café Manager at Ground+Co, so they are able to provide appropriate work support to our Team Members.
  • Participating in the development and delivery of relevant training and support for Ground+Co staff.
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with referral agencies, organisations, and employment partners.
  • Participating in TUC’s measurement and evaluation activities in order to deliver evidence-based programs with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Provide post-placement support to our Team Members and Employment Partners.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, youth work and/or relevant community service qualifications.
  • Two years or more of demonstrated ability to work effectively with vulnerable women and young people, particularly those facing multiple complex challenges such as unemployment, social isolation, victims of violence, mental illness, alcohol and other drug issues, housing insecurity, health issues, family issues.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively manage a range of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to tailor communication styles to the audience.
  • Experience in program delivery and review.
  • Experience in employment services.
  • Experience in education/employment outcome focus and post-placement support
  • Commitment to TUC’s values and strong alignment to our purpose
  • Valid Working With Children Check

This is a fixed-term part-time position, starting with 1.5 days per week, with the potential to extend/increase.

Location would be at the café, or potentially on occasion offsite or from home where suitable.
