Job Description - Environmental Engineer/Scientist - Audit/Risk Assessment Consultant

If you are an   Environmental Engineer/Scientist or Risk Assessor  with contaminated land audit experience, or wanting to have audit experience, or aspiring to become an Accredited Contaminated Site Auditor, Geosyntec has a great opportunity for you in our  Sydney Australia office as a member of our Audit Team. In this role you will be working in one of the leading audit practices in NSW (or other states) under the guidance of four experienced NSW EPA accredited Site Auditors. In addition to supporting complex, high-profile audits across a range of sectors, you will also have the opportunity to contribute and participate in a broad range of contaminated site assessments and innovative remediation solutions, expanding the breadth of your experience in this industry. Specialised skills, such as risk assessment, vapour intrusion/hazardous ground gas, hydrogeology, soil science, etc. will be highly regarded. If you don’t have an area of specialisation, we have many senior mentors to help you achieve your aspiring career ambition. Due to our expanding risk assessment business, candidates with risk assessment career background or aspiration are encouraged to apply. If you don’t already have a risk assessment experience but is aspiring to become a risk assessor, we have senior risk assessors who can train you to become one.

 

Being a member of the Audit team does not mean that you can only do Audit work. If you are interested in managing or directing contaminated land projects, our environmental assessment team has many interesting assessment, remediation and risk assessment projects you can be involved in.

To Learn More Visit:  .

  • Assisting Site Auditors with contaminated land audit projects under the  Contaminated Land Management Act 1997including:
    • Review of environmental and risk assessment reports, based on expertise and area of specialisation
    • Preparation of audit advice
    • Preparation of site audit reports
    • Conducting site inspections
    • Participation in client meetings
  • Assisting senior risk assessors in conducting risk assessment projects
  • Assisting Lead Auditors with compliance audit projects, such as to meet state significant development/infrastructure projects including:
    • Review of construction and operational environmental management plans
    • Conducting field and desktop compliance audits
    • Preparation of audit program and reports
  • Proposal and tender preparation
  • Project management, including planning, budgeting, financial management, scheduling, quality reviews, and Client communication
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other stakeholders
  • Assisting our site investigation and remediation team, as required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science or a related field. (required)
  • Postgraduate qualifications. (preferred)
  • At least 2 years (5+ preferred) years of environmental consulting experience in contaminated land in Australia; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of State and National contaminated land guidance and regulations. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (preferred)
  • Experience in human health and ecological risk assessment, hydrogeology, vapour intrusion/hazardous ground gas. (preferred)
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and travelling to client sites as needed. (required)
  • Valid NSW driver’s licence and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Ability to work for any Australian employer required.
