The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two National Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling, psychology, behavioural science, social work, and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
About the role
An academic sessional makes a substantial contribution to the teaching program, particularly at the undergraduate level. The position requires preparation and coordination of tutorials, consultation with students, assessment marking and attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/ Discipline Lead. The primary purpose of an academic sessional is to successfully run and manage their assigned tutorials within the discipline area.
The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced academics or health promotion workers who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis in Behavioural Science, particularly in social and psychological determinants of health.
We are looking for academic sessional staff with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Social Determinants of Health
• Human Lifespan Development
• Psychology (e.g., Health, Cultural, Social, and/or Developmental Psychology)
• Sociology (e.g., Social of Health and Illness)
• Cultural and/or Indigenous Studies
• Health Promotion
If you have some familiarity with allied health professions such as Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, that would be welcome, too.
