What’s on offer?

With the continued growth and diversification of our business, we are looking to appoint an Estimator to join our Northern Region (QLD) Infrastructure business based in Townsville.

Reporting to the North Queensland Estimating Manager, you will play an important role within our estimating team. Key clients include state government, local government, and the private sector throughout the North Queensland region.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing specifications, quality, safety, and other requirements for all tenders, as well as attending site visits to record conditions.
  • Developing an accurate scope of works, verifying work schedules and bill of quantities, and completing detailed quantity take offs.
  • Ensuring resource rates used are correct, coordinating and sending out subcontractor/supply pricing packages, and performing price analysis.
  • Pricing of direct job cost items in Benchmark and compiling tender support information.
  • Programming the scope of works according to the construction methodology, assessing duration and productivity, and conducting win/loss reporting.
  • Participating in meetings and tender reviews, ensuring tenders and quotes are submitted in a suitable format at the appropriate time, assisting with the handover of successful tenders to operational staff, and providing technical advice to clients as required.

To be successful we are seeking the following:

  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of asphalt surfacing and spray seal operations (preferable) or civil infrastructure projects, pricing from first principles and/or delivering projects on site with ambitions to transition into a full-time Estimator role.
  • A good rapport with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers across the industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and orally.
  • Relevant Engineering qualifications or high-level experience in the civil construction field.
  • Detailed knowledge of estimating software such as Benchmark or equivalent estimating packages will be highly regarded.
  • Good knowledge of programming software such as MS Project or equivalent will be highly regarded.

This position may also require travel on an as needs basis.
