Executive Director, Strategy and Service Delivery – Queensland Government - Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works
The Local Government division plays an important role in ensuring accountable, well-managed, community-focused local governments. As a division of the Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works, this role supports the Department and ensures the Queensland Government's priorities are delivered locally and regionally.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, as the Executive Director Strategy and Service Delivery, you are responsible for providing complex and strategic advice to Government on all local government matters. Working closely with Mayors, Councillors and CEOs from all 77 Local Government authorities across Queensland, you will lead a team of four direct reports and approximately 40 staff to ensure a contemporary and strategic legislative framework for councils, develop strategy and policy for local government and promote the sustainability, integrity, capacity and performance of the sector.
To be considered for this role, you will be a strategic leader with a proven ability to work closely with senior executives to provide advice on complex public policy, service delivery and sensitive local government matters. Your natural ability to influence and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, will have seen you successfully deliver on programs and projects with mutually beneficial outcomes. Leading an experienced team, you will be a calm and positive leader that values collaboration and continuous improvement. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and/or organisations would be advantageous.
