Job Description - Executive Director(s), Statewide Initiatives

About the Department of Education

The Department of Education (DoE) is committed to giving all children a great start and ensuring Queenslanders have the education and skills they need to contribute to the social, economic, and cultural development of the state. We are dedicated to creating quality early learning experiences and delivering world-class education services. The DoE is focused on aligning education and care systems with the state’s employment, skills, and economic priorities, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and resilience among students.

The DoE’s strategy, Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student (Equity and Excellence) sets a clear vision for a progressive, high performing education system. The strategy places students at the centre of the strategy, informing key initiatives so that every part of the system becomes more responsive to allow schools to help every student to reach their potential.

In its second year, the department has seen positive outcomes of the progress so far and it is an exciting time for new executive leaders to join and build on the momentum to see further lifts across the system.

We are seeking multiple dynamic Executive Directors to lead the DoE’s Statewide Initiatives across the following branches:

You will lead system initiatives from issue identification through to solution development and supported implementation, all aligned with best practice policy development and sound governance principles. Your responsibilities will include leading at level, building capability across the branches, and proactively identifying and implementing improvement strategies to optimise school and system performance.
