Job Description - Executive Level 2 - Director - Aged Care Policy Section

Leading and managing a team within the Branch you will support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Director, SES Band 1, Aged Care Policy, and work across organisation, to deliver aspects of the IHACPA Work Program. This position supports the ED, Aged Care Policy and responsibilities include to:

  • establish and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and oversee the public submissions process for consultations relating to one or more discrete functions.
  • develop and review policies, procedures, and frameworks, as required, to support IHACPA in effectively undertaking its role.
  • develop and deliver education to support stakeholders.
  • manage the development and implementation of reporting to the Pricing Authority and Executive related to the aged care functions you may also manage formal agreements between agencies to support the aged care function.
The key duties of the position include

  • Actively contribute to the development of IHACPA's strategic policy initiatives.
  • Lead the development of policy reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and discussion papers.
  • Provide leadership and independently manage day-to-day activities of staff ensuring effective performance and the achievement of results.
  • Effectively communicate and make balanced decisions in an uncertain environment, demonstrating probity, professional judgment, and accountability to achieve the section's and IHACPA's objectives.
  • Demonstrated strategic and program management skills including an ability to develop, interpret and apply specialised government policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with other Government, industry and community groups on complex and sensitive policy issues.
  • Have highly developed stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills to successfully manage sensitive issues and communicate complex information to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Able to identify, evaluate and manage risk in decision making and delivery of outcomes, and to assess organisational impacts, governance and compliance issues.
  • Able to provide expert advice on policy, complex problem solving and issues management for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of liaising, consulting and negotiating with other Government, industry and community groups on a range of sensitive policy issues.
  • Stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
