We are looking to hire a resourceful Facilities Manager to join our multidisciplinary team at Havelock Housing Association in Canberra ACT.

About us

At Havelock, we aim to reduce homelessness and housing insecurity by providing safe secure homes to our community. We do this by working collaboratively withe the government and community to reduce homelessness by increasing awareness and support and delivering high quality housing services. 

Tasks &responsibilities

  • As the Facilities Manager, you will develop and implement innovative strategies and manage property projects to ensure high standards and quality of refurbishment and maintenance. including renewal programs for better value from existing properties and balance long term asset maintenance.
  • You will also be instrumental in leading our capital maintenance program and be responsible to manage HHL's annual maintenance budget.
    You will lead the HHL's Property maintenance team to ensure that property maintenance strategies and programs are implemented, focusing on ensuring our portfolio is well-maintained and safe.
  • Reporting to the Executive Manager Tenancy and working across a designated portfolio, you will be responsible for the lifecycle management of HHL owned property assets and leased assets, ensuring routine works, and repairs and modifications are carried out in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Through exceptional contract management, your key responsibilities will be to develop and maintain excellent client partnership through quality service delivery and meaningful engagement Lead the contract for the provision of planned and corrective / reactive maintenance services.
  • Vendor management of all sub-contracted repair and maintenance services
    Assist in the implementation of the Strategi Asset management Plan (SAMP)
  • Develop and implement the cyclical maintenance program and refurbishments.
  • Ensure the Property department meets its budget and financial targets through regular analysis and reporting and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Oversight of building caretaking activities including cleaning, gardening, waste management, and general upkeep
     

Qualifications & experience

  • This hands on role will see the successful candidate be proactive as a leader, trade qualified with exceptional communication skills and the ability to lead and manage a small team.
  • To be successful in this role, you will have experience managing large to medium-scale repair and maintenance projects.
  • Your ability to build and maintain relationships as well as possess strong stakeholder engagement skills will also be key to your success.
  • Intermediate competency in Microsoft Windows (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to learn/use specialist software
  • Experience or qualifications in any of: Construction or Trade, Construction Site Management, Project Management, Property Management
  • Experience in Management of a property asset portfolio, including record keeping, budget management, liaising with owners, property managers and residents
  • Experience in building / Asset inspections determining safety, condition, remaining life, and repair costs
  • Experience in engaging, scheduling, and supervision of trades and service providers using building contracts, head contracts and purchase orders
  • Basic knowledge of building construction methodology, products, and services, WHS legislation and safe work methodology in the construction, facilities, or similar sector
  • Ability to read and comprehend building plans and related documents
  • Relevant building or trade qualifications or 5 years' experience in a similar role where you are responsible for the planning and delivery of building maintenance to agreed scope, time and budget
  • Well developed problem solving and influencing skills with the ability to identify and implement resolution strategies
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft suite and property management databases  
  • Current White card or ability to obtain
  • Current driver's license
  • Current WWVP registration and National Police check or ability to successfully obtain
