Job Description - Family & Life Skills - Mental Health Educator

Equip churches and communities to support mental health and wellbeing.

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a passionate and skilled Mental Health Educator to join our Family & Life Skills Education (FLSE) Team. This is a meaningful role for someone who loves teaching, facilitating groups, and building strong partnerships across Anglican churches, ministry organisations and schools.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver around 35 seminars and courses each year on mental health and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate Mental Health First Aid and Youth MHFA certificates about four times annually. (Training to become an accredited MHFA facilitator can be part of the role)
  • Build strong relationships with Anglican churches, schools, Anglicare teams, and Christian organisations.
  • Develop and deliver evidence‑based, practical training and workshops.
  • Review participant feedback and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Where appropriate, teach, preach or speak in Christian ministry settings and develop biblically aligned content.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Nursing, L&D Learning & Development or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years’ Experience in mental health support, training, or group facilitation.
  • Experience supporting people with mental health needs (community, church, NGO, or health settings).
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Current NSW Driver License and Working with Children Check.

It is desirable that you have:

  • Theological training at Certificate level or above.
  • Sound knowledge of Anglicare, including services, programs and organisational structure.
  • An understanding of the structure and culture of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.
  • Demonstrated experience in parish ministry.
  • Willingness and ability to facilitate the administrative requirements the role as required.
  • Anglican License to Minister in the Sydney Diocese (or ability to gain one).
