Join our team as a Field Officer - Parks and Conservation (Parks and Assets)

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  
  Undertaking a broad range of horticultural and parks maintenance activities across Council’s parks, gardens and open spaces, including planting, pruning, weeding, fertilising and landscape upkeep.
  
  


• 
  
  Operating and maintaining a variety of plant, tools and equipment to ensure public spaces are presented to a high standard.
  
  


• 
  
  Conducting inspections of parks, playgrounds and other public assets to identify hazards, report defects and undertake minor rectification works where appropriate.
  
  


• 
  
  Monitoring and addressing safety risks, including playground equipment condition, soft fall depths, trip hazards and other issues impacting community safety.
  
  


• 
  
  Completing risk assessments and contributing to a strong workplace health and safety culture.
  
  


• 
  
  Working collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality maintenance services for the community.
  
  

Skills and experience:

• 
  
  Experience delivering high-quality maintenance, horticultural, landscaping or parks-related services.
  
  


• 
  
  A passion for horticulture, parks and public assets, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge with others.
  
  


• 
  
  Ability to safely operate and maintain a range of plant, equipment and tools.
  
  


• 
  
  Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with the ability to identify, report and address hazards.
  
  


• 
  
  Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team-focused environment.
  
  


• 
  
  Physical fitness and capability to undertake outdoor labouring tasks in varying weather conditions.
  
  


• 
  
  A customer-focused approach and pride in maintaining community assets to a high standard.

Who we are:

Eligibility:

• You'll have a minimum of 3 years' experience in the relevant field and qualification. 


• You'll have a qualification in either of the following: 
  
  
  
  • Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
  
  
  • Certificate III in Arboriculture.
  
  
  • Landscape Construction including a playground Inspector – Level 2 Certificate.
  
  
  • Conservation and Land Management, Fire Management or equivalent.
  
  
  
  


• You'll hold a current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.


• You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster over weekends and public holidays on a roster basis.


• To be eligible for employment, applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
