Job Description - Field Service Technician - Underground Diesel Mechanic

What are we looking for?
 
We are looking for skilled Underground Diesel Mechanics for our Field Service Divisions to assist with the maintenance and repair of underground equipment, working closely with Site Workshop Supervisors to ensure efficient operations. You'll be tasked with promptly addressing breakdowns, conducting routine maintenance, and sourcing spare parts as needed.
  
Alongside this, you'll also be responsible for servicing and maintaining mobile plant and underground equipment.  We are also looking for those who can prioritise safety at all times, adhering to proper work methods and maintaining high levels of housekeeping. The successful candidates will ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and on time, while also communicating any defects or resource needs to supervisors promptly. It’s what you make of it so being process driven and accountable for your work is crucial.

These positions will require travel to various sites across the NSW & QLD Coal Fields including the Hunter, Gunnedah, Illawarra, Central West, Central Queensland and the Bowen Basin. The successful candidate will possess:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/ or equivalent is preferred
  • Explosion Protected Diesel Engine Systems Maintenance (DES) Certificate
  • Qualified Diesel Fitter with experience in Underground Coal Equipment
  • Experience performing breakdown, servicing and general maintenance of a variety of underground mobile plant (hydraulic experience desirable)
  • Current Drivers License (C Class)
  • Strong focus on safety and quality of work
  • Ability to take ownership of each job and be responsible for meeting timeframes
  • Motivated and hardworking, with a professional attitude
  • Company and customer focused
  • Have excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities
  • Be autonomous, able to operate independently, and unsupervised
  • Be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully to onsite clients and other tradespersons
