Job Description - Field Support Officer


Who we are


 


The NSW Early Learning Commission began operation as the independent regulator for early childhood education and care (ECEC) in NSW on 1 December 2025. We are responsible for regulating over 6,000 ECEC services across NSW to ensure they meet high standards of safety, quality and compliance with the National Law and Regulations. We oversee these services with the paramountcy principle front of mind – that is, that the safety of children comes first, always.


 


The Early Learning Commission is dedicated to driving quality, safety, compliance and community confidence across the NSW ECEC sector. We place the safety, wellbeing, rights and best interests of children at the very centre of every decision and action.


 


 



  • Temporary Full-Time opportunity until 30 June 2029

  • A talent pool will be created through this recruitment process to fill anticipated vacancies in NSW locations over the next 18 months 

  • Located in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements available

  • Salary ranges from $84,659 to $92,701 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading


 


About the role


 


The Field Support Officer delivers administrative and clerical support to assist field staff across the Statewide Operations Network.


 


Key responsibilities may include:



  • Providing high-quality administrative support to field staff to ensure consistent regulatory practices across the Statewide Operations Network

  • Managing records and information using relevant databases and systems, in line with departmental policies and procedures, ensuring accurate data entry and retrieval

  • Supporting research and project activities to assist field staff in their work

  • Preparing a range of documents, including reports and spreadsheets, to support operational needs

  • Supporting officers during site visits to assist with quality assessment and rating, and compliance monitoring of early childhood education services

  • Assist in supporting administrative functions of the broader Regulatory Authority to meet business

About you


 



  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while consistently meeting deadlines

  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills to manage enquiries and escalate complex or high-risk issues when required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on accuracy, clarity and professionalism and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly self-motivated, well-organised, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

  • Understanding of, or experience in, early childhood education service provision, including knowledge of operational practices, regulatory requirements and quality standards.

Essential requirements of the role


 



  • A driver license and ability to undertake short-term travel, as driving is an essential requirement of this role.

  • Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and committed to the value of early childhood education and care.
