You'll work closely with an experienced Finance Manager while being part of a wider administrative and professional team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.As the Finance Assistant, you will have a particular focus on Trust Accounting & Accounts Payables. You will play a vital role in the financial operations of the firm, ensuring all trust and payable activities are accurate, compliant and delivered on time. This is a hands-on position with excellent exposure to the finance function.
Your new role
Managing the day-to-day trust accounting function, including trust receipts, payments, PEXA authorisations and regular trust reconciliations
Assisting with trust investment movements, dormant balance reviews and compliance record keeping.
Processing accounts payable from data entry through to payment, including creditor management and reconciliations
Supporting the Finance Manager with end-of-month and year-end trust reconciliations and audits
Providing assistance with billing, collections, payroll and other finance tasks as required
Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external banking partners
Supporting administrative projects, system improvements and general finance hygiene
Upholding firm policies, processes and high standards of accuracy and professionalism
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in accounts payable and bank reconciliations (essential)
Knowledge of administration, accounting and business practices
Strong organisational skills, accuracy and time management
Ability to work independently while being an active part of a supportive team
Professional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Confidence working under pressure and meeting deadlines
A problem-solving mindset with strong initiative
Experience in trust accounting, legal or professional services
Experience using MYOB, LEAP or similar finance/practice management software
Exposure to compliance-based finance environments
Qualifications:
Bookkeeping or Accounting qualification (desirable)
Prior experience within a legal or accounting firm (desirable)
