Exciting opportunity to join an expanding team as a Financial Business Partner Your new company A leading public sector organisation in regional Victoria is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial insight, high quality advisory support, and performance analysis across operational and corporate divisions. This pivotal role offers the chance to influence decision making, enhance financial capability across the organisation, and contribute to improved service delivery for the community. Your new role As the Finance Business Partner, you will play a critical role in supporting senior leaders by delivering accurate financial analysis, activity performance insights, and clear, data driven recommendations. You will prepare monthly variance reporting, monitor results against budget and forecast, and work closely with stakeholders to address financial risks and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and revenue optimisation. You will also contribute to annual budget development, lead operational review meetings, enhance financial literacy across teams, and support strategic initiatives through modelling, costing, and financial evaluation. Key Responsibilites
Produce monthly variance and trend reports to support financial and activity performance analysis.
Monitor performance against budget, forecast and run rates; investigate variances and recommend corrective actions.
Provide high level, timely financial advice to support operational and strategic goals.
Identify and drive revenue maximisation and cost reduction opportunities.
Ensure reporting deadlines, quality standards, and KPIs are consistently met.
Support annual budget development, including operating and capital expenditure planning.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve financial modelling, reporting frameworks, and performance analysis tools.
Liaise with external agencies and ensure compliance with required reporting (including departmental and benchmarking submissions).
Lead financial review meetings with senior operational teams.
Build financial capability across the organisation through training and communication.
Produce high quality analysis and reporting for senior management and executives.
What you'll need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (CA/CPA preferred but not essential).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong capability with financial reporting systems.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical skills with experience preparing complex financial and activity analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail, proactive problem solving approach, and commitment to continuous improvement.
