The OpportunityThis is a rare 9-month labour hire contract opportunity with the potential to extend for an additional 9 months.
Your role will initially focus on partnering with the IT business unit to support upcoming changes. Following this, there will be an opportunity to partner with the broader business unit, allowing you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the organisation.
While experience in management accounting is highly regarded, this role is an excellent opportunity for individuals outside the APS to be considered, as the organisation’s unique business model involves both government and commercial reporting requirements.
You will work alongside a high-performing finance leadership team, with mentorship provided to support your career growth.
The RoleKey responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Building strong working relationships with business areas by providing trusted advice
- Assisting with and leading month-end accounting processes, including preparing journals and reconciliations
- Drafting monthly reports that include commentary and identifying variances for key stakeholders to influence decision-making
- Assisting with the coordination of divisional input for external reporting requirements
- Providing advice to senior stakeholders based on research and analysis of financial results
The Ideal PersonThe ideal candidate is an experienced management accountant or finance business partner with a background in budget-related roles and a strong understanding of accounting standards.
You are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:
- Experience in a Big 4 or other consulting firm at the Senior Associate or Manager level, with engagements in management accounting or budget-related areas
- Previous or current work within the Federal Government at an APS6 or above level in a budgeting and forecasting
- Professional experience in a large organisation as a senior management accountant or similar roles
You are enthusiastic, communicative, and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve goals. Known for your excellent interpersonal skills, you thrive on building relationships with stakeholders.
Salary / RateUp to $75/hr + 11.5% Super
