We are a well-established Australian owned Freight Forwarding and Warehousing company. Handling all aspects of Sea and Air logistics including 3PL, Import and Exports, Customs Clearance and transportation, we cater to a variety of customers for all their global logistics requirements.
About the role
The role oversees the financial management/accounting, credit control, billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable. This role is responsible for managing the financial transactions of the business, providing strategic finance insights, analysis and reporting in addition to being ‘hands on’ in some accounting deliverables. Acts as a business partner to teams to ensure that our financial control is maintained and leveraged. This role is also a people leader position and is required to develop and lead a small finance & accounts team.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a small team at the transactional level (incl. offshore)
- Reconciliations and monthly reporting (P&L, B/S plus commentary)
- Compliance including BAS/IAS, PAYG, Payroll tax
- Budgets and forecasts, cashflow analysis
- Manage GL & perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Establish Sales & Profit forecasting
- Prepare Monthly Sales Reports, Track sales & profitability against forecasts
- Complete Monthly Management Financial reports
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts, budgeting & forecasting
- Foreign Exchange Management
- Creditor & Debtor Management
- Develop controls & procedures to safeguard integrity of financial data
- Work with Director to improve performance measures
- Develop long-term business plans to minimise company's financial risk
- Involvement in acquisitions/due diligence
- Leading ad-hoc finance projects Liaise with external authorities, e.g., Tax Office & external Accountants
- Provide cost effective solutions to improve overall business profit
- Manage Statutory Requirements
- Manage Accounting IT System & Processes
- Identify and Drive improvements to processes, policies and systems across the team
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Report risk issues to the relevant stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to, and improvement of, relevant Company policies
- Liaising with external auditors and tax accountants to ensure compliance
About You
- CA/CPA qualified with experience in freight forwarding industry
- Strong communicator with the ability to liaise with all stakeholders
- Cargo Wise system experience
- Tech Savvy and knowledgeable in use of Microsoft office
- Ability and willingness to reorganise processes for maximum efficiency
- Able to generate informative presentations and reports for use in making business decisions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
- Work well with others through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to problem solve at all levels
