Financial Accountant role in Sydney Olympic Park. Permanent full time position with ANZ reporting exposure. The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a well-established mid-to-large organisation based in Sydney Olympic Park.Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will play a key part in the financial accounting, statutory reporting and compliance obligations across Australia and New Zealand. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working hands on in the detail, while also maintaining strong commercial awareness and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. You will be joining a collaborative and professional finance team where quality, accuracy and value add are highly regarded. Key Responsibilities
Prepare income tax returns and related disclosures, ensuring timely lodgement and compliance with Australian and New Zealand tax legislation
Assist with the preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation and calculations
Perform tax effect accounting including income tax provisions, deferred tax calculations and quarterly reporting
Prepare Business Activity Statements and complete GST apportionment analysis
Prepare annual consolidated financial statements, ESG reporting and supporting disclosures
Review and analyse profit and loss movements and variances, providing clear commentary and insights
Support forecasting cycles and annual budget preparation
Complete balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation
Coordinate internal and external audit requests and assist with resolving findings
Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls, policies and procedures
Contribute to system improvements and process optimisation initiatives
Supervise and support an Assistant Accountant
Assist with ad hoc accounting and reporting requirements as required
About You You are a proactive and detail focused Financial Accountant with experience in a mid to large sized organisation. You are comfortable managing statutory obligations alongside internal reporting and enjoy working in a deadline driven environment.
You bring a positive attitude, strong communication skills and a genuine desire to add value to both the finance function and the broader business. Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce
CA or CPA preferred but not essential
Skills and Experience
Minimum three years experience in a similar Financial Accountant role
Strong technical knowledge of Australian and New Zealand accounting standards and tax requirements
Advanced Excel skills highly desirable
Experience with Power BI and Onestream is highly regarded
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Self motivated, organised and able to manage competing priorities
Collaborative team player with strong stakeholder engagement skills
Solutions focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
