Financial Controller (CFO Potential)

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the company’s financial health as we scale up. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, preferably in the SaaS B2B sector.

This role also presents an opportunity to lead a People and Culture Coordinator, making it ideal for a professional with leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Develop and implement robust financial controls and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team to support decision-making and drive business growth.

Outsourced Bookkeeping Management

• Manage and oversee outsourced bookkeeping functions in Australia and the UK, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Liaise with external accounting firms and bookkeepers to optimise processes and maintain strong financial controls.

Systems and Platform Management

• Manage and optimise finance platforms and relevant tools.
• Implement and maintain financial systems to support scalability and efficiency, with a focus on automation and integration.

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Lead financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Use forecasting platforms to drive insights and inform strategic decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development

• Oversee and mentor a People and Culture Coordinator, providing leadership and guidance to support the company’s culture and employee engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to develop and implement strategies for building a high-performance, data-driven company.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
• A minimum of 5-7 years in financial management
• Experience in a SaaS B2B scale-up, is desirable.
• Strong proficiency in platforms such as Xero, Cake, Hubspot, Maxio (SaaS Optics/Chargify), and forecasting tools an advantage.
• Leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
• Strategic data-driven thinker with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
