Imagine waking up every day with pain, and there is no cure. Globally, 1 in 5 people suffer from chronic pain. It is the #1 most common chronic condition and the leading cause of disability in the world. As many countries fight an opioid crisis that arose from a genuine need for pain relief, demand and evidence have grown for multidisciplinary and behavioural treatment for chronic pain. However, only 10% of chronic pain sufferers have access to these treatments due to high costs or lack of trained practitioners. More Good Days is an early-stage health tech company looking to make evidence-based opioid-free treatments accessible as a first-line option for chronic pain.

About the role

Lay the technical foundations and build out our cross-platform product stack (i.e. infrastructure, system architecture, mobile apps, etc.) that supports and scales with More Good Days

Help set both tactical and strategic goals by constantly assessing the state of system architecture, performance, scalability and develop a technology roadmap to support the growth of the business

Build necessary backend systems, databases, deployment processes, APIs, batch jobs, the mobile app, etc. to integrate with 3rd party systems, and other systems the business runs on

Lead or oversee the development of the mobile app to make sure there is good code design, code quality, test coverage, and performance. Help resolve issues and remove blockers to keep development velocity high

Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to build out incredible and delightful experiences for our users

Regularly review delivery progress with the teams and redirect work to balance speed and quality

Respond to, mitigate, and resolve any production outages

Experience

5+ years of professional software engineering experience. Experience being a tech lead is a huge plus

Fullstack engineer with experience in

SQL (Postgresql, MySQL, etc.) and/or NoSQL (document, key-value, etc.) database and data model design

API design ( REST , RPC , GraphQL ) and implementation

Popular web application frameworks such as RoR , Python + Django , Node + Express etc.

Testing techniques including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.

DevOps on AWS, Google Cloud, or other public cloud hosts

Frontend frameworks such as React , Angular

Cross-platform mobile frameworks such as ReactNative or Flutter

Experience integrating payment services such as Stripe, Adyen

Experience integrating 3rd party SaaS products/software with 1st party systems (web and mobile)

Cross-functional experience working directly with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders

About You

You have a knack for building cross-platform, service-based infrastructure and product backend

You’re a product-focussed engineer with a growth mindset and are always ready to learn

A love for collaborating with others across multiple skillsets - we value leaders who bring diverse values and perspectives as well as encourage that in others

You like to think big picture but are also excited to get your hand's dirty building products and getting into the details

Able to spar on complex technical decisions and pull together foundational design documentation

You make pragmatic technical decisions striking a good balance between achieving goals and code quality
