Job Description - Gardener/Crew Leader

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Land Management Services Division for a full-time Crew Leader, working under the guidance of a Works Supervisor. 

This role is perfect for people with demonstrated experience within grounds and garden maintenance looking to work across various locations as part of a crew, crew members generally have different abilities and a desire to learn new skills. The role is based in Broadmeadows, other start locations may apply.

If you’re proactive, passionate and results driven, experienced in garden and grounds maintenance and are keen to put your experience into practice, while also supporting people with disabilities reach their goals, we would love to hear from you!

The role is Monday – Friday and hours are generally 8:00am – 4:06pm with flexibility needed to also work between 6:00am – 6:00pm.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Grounds and garden maintenance experience
  • Turf experience
  • Experience in the use and operation of horticultural equipment 
  • A good level of mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to tow a trailer
  • Experience in working with people with different abilities is highly desirable but not essential
  • Good communication skills; ability to prevent and resolve issues and to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ability to advocate and promote community inclusion and person centred support that exceeds standards and is delivered within the available resources
  • Good administration skills and computer literacy in order to complete appropriate documentation
  • Highly motivated and outcome driven to complete allotted tasks
  • Ability to meet the goals and objectives of the team while working in an independent environment
  • Commitment to exceptional service delivery and a demonstrated professional approach to work
  • Commitment to the principles of Occupational Health & Safety and Environment, EEO, Cultural Diversity and all relevant legislation

Must haves

  • Right to work in Australia
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check - We are working with vulnerable people and this check is required to ensure we are employing people that do not present a risk to participants 
  • Full Victorian Driver Licence
  • Certificate in First Aid Level 2 + CPR
  • Turf or grounds maintenance qualification and/or allied field (Desirable)
  • White Card or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Chemcert or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Evidence of Covid-19 vaccination, including the booster (or medical exemption)
