ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a Gas Drainage Engineer to join our Technical Services team and play a critical role in supporting safe and productive underground mining operations across Carborough Downs (B&P) and Ironbark No. 1 (Longwall).

Reporting to the Gas & Infrastructure Superintendent, you’ll use your technical expertise to manage and optimise gas drainage systems, ensuring gas levels are effectively controlled and maintained within statutory requirements. Working closely with underground operations, you’ll help deliver practical gas management solutions that keep people safe and mining moving.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a critical aspect of underground mining, influence operational performance and drive continuous improvement across our gas drainage systems.

ABOUT YOU

• Minimum 1 years’ experience in underground coal operations, ideally in a gas drainage role.
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• G189 (S123) & G2 competencies.
• RIIMC603A – Establish and Maintain the Gas Drainage Management Plan (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of underground coal mining gas drainage systems and relevant legislative requirements.
• Experience managing gas drainage activities and underground drilling programs.
• Ability to manage contractors to deliver safe, timely and cost-effective outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on system performance and continuous improvement.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams.
• Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and deliver results in a dynamic underground mining environment.
