About the Role:
The General Manager – Mine Development & Construction will lead the development of Monument Mining's Murchison Gold Project from planning and engineering through construction, commissioning and production readiness.
The role requires a hands-on mining executive with extensive experience delivering mine development projects, including underground and/or open pit operations, processing plant construction and infrastructure development. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in compliance with Australian regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Mine Development & Construction
Lead development and construction of mining operations.
Oversee plant, infrastructure and mine development activities.
Drive project delivery from feasibility through commissioning.
Engineering & Technical Leadership
Provide technical oversight across mine planning and engineering.
Review mine designs, technical studies and development strategies.
Ensure integration between mining and processing operations.
Project Management
Manage project schedules, budgets and performance KPIs.
Lead contractors, consultants and EPC/EPCM providers.
Implement governance, reporting and risk management systems.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
Ensure compliance with Australian mining regulations.
Support permitting and approvals.
Build relationships with government agencies, communities and key stakeholders.
Leadership
Build and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Develop organisational capability for transition into operations.
Promote a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
Health, Safety & Environment
Champion HSE leadership.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial Management
Manage capital and operating budgets.
Monitor expenditure and project performance.
Deliver commercially sound project outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum 10–15 years' experience in mining leadership.
Demonstrated experience developing and constructing mining operations.
Strong background in underground and/or open pit mining projects.
Experience with EPC/EPCM organisations highly regarded.
Proven leadership managing large multidisciplinary teams.
Strong commercial, financial and project management capability.
Thorough understanding of Australian mining legislation and permitting.
Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
