Our client is seeking a passionate HR professional who is forward thinking about leading transformative human resource strategies and fostering a dynamic business culture. This prestigious and professional organisation is seeking a General Manager of Human resources to spearhead the HR resources nationally.

The position requires someone with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to be an innovative and strategic leader, in addition to completing hands-on, tactical tasks and driving comprehensive HR processes.

You will be working for a large family owned business who's activities are underpinned by their extensive knowledge and experience across the transport, warehousing, rail and logistics sectors. This knowledge base has helped our client build a comprehensive portfolio of facilities and clientele in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland. Their facilities are strategically located in port locations to maximise quick and efficient utilisation of the wharf, whereas the in land based facilities in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth compliment the diverse clientele base across the metropolitan areas.

The Role:

  • Lead a current team of 2, with potential to grow to 5 to support a Generalist HR and People and Culture approach
  • Ownership of the full people life cycle;
  • Act as the Advisor to the executive and leadership team on all People and Culture and HR matters.
  • Implement and champion People and Culture best practices across the business and contribute to the development and enhancement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive and inclusive organisational culture across multiple locations in Australia and overseas.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge to support long term tenure
  • Create succession plans to ultimately uplift performance capability
  • Organise and execute engaging team-building activities to foster a strong sense of camaraderie
  • Drive employee communication and engagement to create a first class work environment
  • Cultivate and nurture the overall culture of the team, ensuring alignment with company values and objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to business managers including coaching, counselling, career development and disciplinary actions when required
  • Review and own employment agreements ensuring compliance with key industry awards, laws and regulations.
  • Build and sustain relationships with a wide variety of business leaders, employees, and other 3rd party professionals to ensure effective delivery of people objectives;

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources
  • Additional qualifications in Psychology and/or Employment law highly desirable
  • At least 10 years proven experience in National Human Resources and/or People and Culture Management roles
  • Proven experience within Blue Collar industries such as transport and warehousing highly desirable
  • Advanced understanding of EBAs and Industry awards
  • Advanced understanding of Fair Work Practices and processes
  • Proven experience in arbitration practices without supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
