The Opportunity

Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a motivated and collaborative Grants Lead to work across both our Grants portfolios. This includes supporting our Community Grants Program and working to secure external funding. Working closely with the Coordinator Grants, you will play an important role in delivering Council’s Community Grants Program, supporting community organisations to access funding and identifying opportunities for Council to secure grants aligned with its strategic priorities. You will work collaboratively with teams across Council, helping develop compelling funding applications, prepare award nominations and ensure grant opportunities are effectively managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, assessment and reporting processes for Council’s Community Grants Program, ensuring alignment with Council policy.

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Community Grants Program to respond to community needs and Council’s strategic priorities.

  • Identify and monitor external funding opportunities, working with teams across Council to develop compelling grant applications for priority projects.

  • Maintain grant opportunity registers, databases and electronic grants management systems, and support the administration of active grants.

Skills & Experience

You will bring tertiary qualifications in social science, community development or a related discipline, along with relevant experience in grants programs and administration. You will have strong project and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate complex projects and meet deadlines. Your experience preparing high-quality reports, briefing papers and funding submissions will be complemented by strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to build collaborative relationships with community groups, senior management and internal teams. Experience supporting committees with diverse stakeholders is desired. You will have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and grants management software such as SmartyGrants.
