Job Description - Graphic Designer/Marketing Assistant

  • Part-time 20-25 hours per week (3 full days or “school” hours if desired)
  • Work across social, digital, email and print
  • Great team environment in a light-filled, CBD located office

ARITA – Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association – is now hiring for an in-house junior graphic designer, who will also assist with some marketing activities.

You’ll be based in our Head Office in Sydney and as the Graphic Designer/Marketing Assistant (part-time) you’ll be part of a team who consistently deliver high-quality education courses, profession-specific conferences, networking events and industry thought papers and presentations.

Reporting to our Head of Marketing, you’ll be working on a variety of campaigns, projects and events. Your week will involve designing visual assets for all ARITA channels (webpage, social media, emails, ARITA Journal) as well as designing broader campaign material like PowerPoint presentations, direct-mail pieces, brochures, booklets, and event collateral.

You will be able to utilise your creative ideas to design the look and feel for ARITA major events (whilst adhering to corporate style-guides) as well as contributing to the overall brand strategy under the guidance of the Head of Marketing.

We are looking for someone who can also assist with some basic marketing tasks to help with the implementation of the busy marketing calendar. Marketing-related tasks will include things like, writing social media captions and posting to social media channels, setting up email marketing assets (that you’ve designed and created!) in Mailchimp, and other general marketing admin tasks.

On average you’ll spend 70% of your week designing and 30% of your week assisting with marketing tasks.

The role is being offered as part-time between 20-25 hours per week (negotiable). We are happy to consider applicants who would like to work school hours across 4 or 5 days or those that would prefer three full days. The role will require you to be in the office for a portion of at least 3 days per week to support collaboration with the Head of Marketing and the rest of the team.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Designing visual assets for marketing activities, including: website, email marketing, social media, event apps, printed publications, conferences, courses and education products.
  • Writing captions and scheduling content for ARITA social channels, newsletter and emails.
  • Compiling content into Mailchimp for our weekly eNewsletter.
  • General administrative and scheduling tasks associated with the coordination of Marketing activity.

Essential Requirements

  • Proficient in using the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop are a must!).
  • A formal qualification in graphic design.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as a desire to make contributions to our team environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to follow a creative brief.

Desired Requirements

  • An understanding of Adobe Illustrator, Premier Pro and animation or a willingness to upskill in these areas if required.
  • An understanding of Mailchimp.
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools.
  • Good copywriting skills

We utilise other software programs within our organisation like Asana and iMIS, which you will be given training for.

How to apply

To be considered for this role, applications must include:

  1. A cover letter outlining how your skills and experience will benefit ARITA’s visual brand.
  2. A current CV with two referees.
  3. A link to an online portfolio or some examples of your graphic design work (as this is a junior role, we don’t expect this to be extensive, we just want to see a few examples of your design work).

Applications close 21 June 2024 – or sooner if the right applicant is found! We will commence interviews before the application period has closed and please note that only successful applicants will be contacted.

ARITA encourages flexible working, and we invite applicants with flexible working requirements to apply – please indicate any details regarding this on your application.

If you have any questions regarding this role, please email [email protected].
