Job Description - Group HR Advisor

The role: 

The Group HR & WHS Advisor works closely with the Group HR & WHS Manager to drive cultural change through the implementation of best practice HR & WHS initiatives. 

The Group HR & WHS Advisor partners with other senior managers and employees to ensure the aims of the HR & WHS strategy and group are achieved. 

Within the role you will be exposed to, and have responsibility for: 

 

HR Advisory and Operations 

  • Conduct monthly touch bases with each of the business leaders on HR & WHS related topics occurring within their control. 
  • Become the first point of contact for all business leader queries. 
  • Prepare the monthly management meeting report and compilation of HR & WHS statistics. 

Employment Relations

  • Lead in resolving employee complaints in accordance with the employee grievance policy. 
  • Keep up to date with all legislative changes and effectively communicate all changes to leaders. 
  • Enact the Fair Work Commission Annual Wage Review and perform relevant audits to ensure compliance.  

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for the organization including internal/external advertising, applicant screening and interviews, applicant administration, interviewing, medical testing (as required), reference checking, placement and induction; excluding the recruitment of senior and executive positions. 
  • Assist the Group HR & WHS Manager with onboarding of senior and executive positions. 
  • Engage with external recruitment agencies ensuring required outcomes are received in relation to the required campaign. 
  • Onboard all new employees as required by the business and support site managers in inducting employees on site. 

Training and Development 

  • Assist the Group HR & WHS Manager in coordinating the internal leadership development programs. 
  • Assist the Group HR & WHS Manager in developing training needs analysis. 
  • Assist in the delivery of the training requirements from the training needs analysis. 

Work Health and Safety 

  • Actively promote a “see something, say something” safety culture. 
  • Perform end-to-end investigation process under the guidance of the Group HR & WHS Manager. 
  • Develop and execute an internal investigation framework.

Your key to success: 

The successful candidate has a proven HR generalist background and thrives in a blue-collar type of HR environment, where no two days will be the same. You should have a sound understanding of fundamental HR principles, has an advanced analytical and reasoning capabilities and sound project management skills. 

Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are matched by your ability to communicate and manage the expectations of the stakeholders you engage with (within head office, and those working in other locations). Managing competing timelines and associated expectations is critical in this role.
