About the Role 


The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Operations & Maintenance team in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental systems across the Company. This role works closely with operational teams to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company policies, and industry best practice, while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture.


 


Key Responsibilities 



  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE documentation, systems, and templates, including procedures, forms, inductions, and incident management workflows, in line with corporate HSE policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate and support pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, safety communications, and training schedules.

  • Identify HSE training needs and assist in the development and delivery of relevant training programs.

  • Support quality management initiatives and contribute to quality system training where required.

  • Participate in annual and routine safety audits to identify workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, or conditions, and assist with implementing corrective actions.

  • Assist with incident reporting, including data entry, evidence collection, investigation support, and tracking corrective actions through to closure.

  • Conduct and participate in site visits to support safety engagement, observations, inspections, and implementation of system improvements.

  • Maintain, monitor, and analyse records relating to workplace injuries, illnesses, hazards, incidents, and absenteeism to identify trends and areas of concern.Provide guidance and support to the O&M workforce on HSE policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Support leaders and managers in driving continuous improvement initiatives and embedding a proactive health and safety culture across the O&M team.

  • Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, company systems, permits, and site safety requirements.

  • Assist in the review and development of risk assessments, SWMS, JSA documentation, and permit-to-work systems.


 


Qualifications & Experience 



  • Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Health & Safety Coordinator or similar HSE role.

  • Experience within solar, electrical utilities, industrial, construction, or O&M environments is highly desirable.

  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and SafeWork NSW and VIC requirements.

  • Sound understanding of HV/LV electrical safety systems, permit-to-work systems, and SWMS/JSA documentation.

  • Experience in incident reporting, investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective action management.
