Head Chef - Urgent Role

Café Sofia, Erskineville, Sydney Chef full time position 

About us:

Café Sofia is a well-established cafe in Erskineville, operating 7 days a week. We pride ourselves on our great customer service, homey food and coffee. 

Your main responsibilities include planning menus, overseeing the kitchen staff, and ensuring our food meets high-quality standards. You will also oversee daily operations and kitchen costs.

Duties:

• Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations.
• Quantity cooking.
• Maintain and operate the kitchen in a clean, sanitary and safe manner, which shall include the regular cleaning of the kitchen and the kitchen supplies and utensils.
• Promptly notify the Restaurant Manager of any maintenance problems or unsafe conditions in or around the kitchen.
• Supervise the serving of dishes before they leave the kitchen.
• Properly care for food supplies and leftovers.
• Work with the Restaurant Manager to coordinate the ordering of food and supplies.
• Work with the Restaurant Manager to develop menus.
• Take care of the kitchen’s accounts and create a work roster.
  Interview and hiring new staff.

The right candidate will demonstrate:

• At least 2 years of employment experience as breakfast and lunch chef leading in a kitchen
• The minimum qualification is a Certificate IV in commercial cookery or higher
• Good communicative skills 
• Commitment to the set hours/shifts and is reliable
