Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay is Australia's original luxury safari camp and the dining experience is a major part of its ongoing success. The unique 40 seat treetop dining room at Paperbark Camp known as 'The Gunyah' is looking for a full-time Head Chef or experienced Sous Chef willing to step up to the role and continue our great reputation. 

This is an opportunity to showcase your talents as part of a dedicated team but also to work in a beautiful and inspirational environment with a food loving clientele. The camp provides breakfast and dinner 7 days a week as well as picnic lunches and a small bar menu.

Whilst there is the opportunity for a flexible roster, availability at weekends and peak holiday periods is a job requirement.

To be considered for this role you should have:

• A minimum two years experience in a reputable a la carte restaurant. This position could also suit a confident sous chef ready to take the next step in their career.
• Experience working independently and managing a small kitchen team.
• Experience and ability to work within agreed budgets.
• Strong knowledge of the preparation, delivery and services associated with the presentation of quality contemporary menus
• A genuine interest in food, it’s provenance and sustainability
• An interest in and/or experience cooking with indigenous ingredients would be highly regarded but not a requirement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the prep and presentation of a daily menu, training and supervising junior staff, ordering, maintaining food quality, ensuring food and safety standards, good communication with front of house team and management.

This position will suit someone able to motivate and work well with others, who has a 'can-do' attitude, enjoys the good times and quickly gets over the occasional tough, and is looking for a new challenge. A love of the natural environment and beach and desire for a slower pace of life in a small coastal will make this a very attractive proposition. Huskisson is located 180km south of Sydney, approx 2.5 hrs drive.

Support can also be provided by management if re-location is required and short-term accommodation is also available. Sponsorship available for the right candidate. Also suitable for management couples.
