Job Description - Head of Central Finance Australia


The Position


Manage day-to-day financial activities for the organisation aligned to the functional strategy and operational direction for the department and compliance with regulations.


Control financial resources, provide reporting, analysis and advice to internal business partners and external organisations for business sustainability.


 


Tasks & Responsibilities



  • Financial Accounting & Controlling:

    • Analyse the organization's revenues, liabilities, credit conditions, and other financial indicators to forecast it's short, medium, and long-term cash flow position

    • Oversee end to end interim & year-end audit

    • Oversee the planning and execution of year end reporting

    • Oversee the preparation and lodgement of statutory accounts

    • Oversee and support financial controlling activities

    • Coordinate activities for Australia with global shared service center




 



  • Taxation:

    • Oversee the preparation and quality check income tax returns for all entities

    • Support the Finance team to liaise with tax advisors and provide income tax advice to the business

    • Support the Finance team to review BAS & FBT Returns

    • Support Finance team in advising business on GST and FBT matters

    • Oversee the completion of reporting

    • Transfer pricing coordination for Australia.

    • Oversee the preparation of R&D applications with HP and AH Controllers

    • Oversee the preparation of FS1 and CbC reports for Corporate




 



  • Treasury:

    • Conduct long term liquidity planning

    • Manage intercompany loans

    • Manage dividend process

    • Act as key contact for central & regional Treasury

    • Act as key contact for Citibank




 



  • Functional Leadership:

    • Set direction according to functional strategy and priorities.

    • Facilitate stakeholder feedback to inform ongoing development discussions and action plans.

    • Conduct team needs analysis and action strategic people growth plans.

    • Practice inclusive leadership to promote innovative ways of working, engagement and talent development.

    • Delegates and empowers others while providing support.

    • Sponsor and mentor identified talent within the Finance team and broader business

    • Work collaboratively to build capabilities across the business for mutual benefit (such as financial acumen to help Managers manage their financial responsibilities)




 



  • Other:

    • Select and manage relationships with consultants and advisors to ensure the satisfactory standards of service

    • Oversee maintenance and execution of local policies, work instructions and controls

    • Contribute to the Commercial Management team to achieve department objectives

    • Lead and contribute to Finance and cross functional projects as required




 


Regulatory & Organizational Requirements:



  • Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and others.

  • Cooperate with Boehringer Ingelheim management in the provision of a healthy and safe workplace.

  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviours and immediately notify the Manager of any serious incidents; complete an Incident / Injury Report and forward to Human Resources within the required time frame in accordance with the Boehringer Ingelheim reporting procedures.

  • Undertake duties in accordance with the current Boehringer Ingelheim Policies and Procedures.

  • Report non-conformance in accordance with the requirements of the Boehringer Ingelheim quality systems.


 


Requirements:



  • Bachelor of Business/ Accounting

  • Professional qualification (CPA or CA)



  • Minimum 8 years of corporate experience

  • Substantial corporate accounting experience, including tax

  • High level executive thinking and problem-solving capability

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Exceptional communication skills and motivation to interact regularly with the business to build understanding and relationships

  • Ability to use data to influence and steer the business

  • Adept at business partnering and advising

  • Ability to interact with all levels of organisation

  • Leads teams to achieve objectives

  • Builds credible and trusting relationships

  • Organised and disciplined to ensure reliability and adherence to expectations and protocols
