Job Description - Head of Finance, Projects & Financial Control
Our client is an Australian ASX listed business, headquartered in Sydney CBD. As a leader in their industry, they understand the critical importance of robust financial management and control. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and strategic Head of Finance Projects & Financial Control to join our clients team and drive their financial initiatives to new heights.
Position Overview: As the Head of Finance Projects & Financial Control, you will be at the helm of the finance projects and financial control functions. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong communications skills and extensive experience in finance project management, financial control, and process optimisation. You will be responsible for leading finance projects, ensuring rigorous financial control, and driving continuous improvement across the finance function. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage end-to-end finance transformation projects, including process improvements, system implementations, and organisational changes.
Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and completion of finance projects, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
Develop and implement robust financial control frameworks to safeguard the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.
Drive process improvements and optimisation initiatives within the finance function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all finance-related activities.
Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align finance projects with business goals and objectives.
Provide strategic guidance and oversight to finance teams in the execution of finance projects and financial control activities.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of finance projects, providing regular updates and reports to senior management.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the finance function.
Oversee the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, ensuring their continuous development and success.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with a strong focus on financial control, project management, and process optimisation.
Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering finance projects and implementing financial control frameworks.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive innovation and change.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management abilities, with experience in leading/working with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, including ERP systems and project management software.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organisation.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
In-depth knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in finance and accounting.
