Job Purpose

Reporting to the APAC Finance Director, you will lead financial control, statutory reporting and governance across BBC Studios’ APAC region. As the technical lead for the business, you will oversee consolidation, balance sheet governance, statutory reporting, tax compliance, audits and the ICFR framework, while leading a regional Actuals & Reporting finance team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of month-end, consolidated management and statutory reporting across the APAC region, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and aligned with internal and external reporting requirements.

  • Own balance sheet governance, including oversight of reconciliations, control processes and review disciplines that support financial integrity across multiple entities and territories.

  • Lead the delivery of annual statutory accounts and support all related regulatory and compliance obligations across the region.

  • Lead external and internal audit activity, acting as the primary point of coordination for audit planning, information requests, issue resolution and delivery timelines.

  • Oversee the APAC region’s Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and broader governance framework, identifying control gaps, strengthening compliance and embedding best-practice financial discipline across the business.

  • Lead tax compliance activities across the APAC region in partnership with internal stakeholders and external advisers, with accountability for direct and indirect tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including GST, FBT, sales tax and broader corporate tax obligations. Oversee the regional response to evolving international tax developments, including BEPS Pillar 2, and ensure the accurate and timely completion of tax filings, deferred tax accounting reconciliations and related reporting requirements.

  • Provide leadership oversight of payroll and employment-related compliance filings across the region, ensuring obligations such as superannuation, payroll tax, employee insurance and other employer reporting requirements are accurately governed, reviewed and delivered in line with local regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Company Secretary, HR, Operations and Facilities on broader regulatory and compliance matters including company insurance arrangements, risk register reviews, APRA returns and WGEA submissions, ensuring relevant obligations are identified, monitored and met across the region.

  • Lead treasury and cash flow management across the region, working with Group Treasury to maximise cashflow balances across the group, alongside cash flow forecasting and governance of banking and funding arrangements, to support financial resilience and effective working capital management.

  • Provide technical accounting leadership on complex matters, including transfer pricing, intercompany issues and the application of accounting standards within a global environment.

  • Partner closely with regional and global finance teams to support consistent reporting, resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with group policies and requirements.

  • Lead the relationship with the outsourced Record-to-Report (R2R) TCS team, setting expectations for service delivery, ensuring timely and accurate execution of reporting activities, and driving continuous improvement, control discipline and effective issue resolution across the end-to-end close and reporting process.

  • Develop the capability of the regional finance team through coaching, technical guidance and clear performance expectations, fostering a high-performing and well-controlled environment.

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, governance and reporting practices to enhance efficiency, consistency and resilience across the APAC finance function.

Scope & Impact

  • Holds regional responsibility for financial control, statutory reporting, audit coordination and tax compliance across a complex APAC business operating through multiple entities and territories.

  • Plays a key leadership role in safeguarding financial integrity, strengthening governance frameworks and ensuring compliance with both local regulatory requirements and group standards.

  • Leads and develops a regional finance team while partnering with senior stakeholders across APAC and global finance to support high-quality decision-making and effective execution.

  • Contributes directly to the resilience, efficiency and control environment of the APAC finance function, with a significant impact on reporting quality, compliance outcomes and risk management.

Key Relationships

  • APAC Finance Director and senior finance leaders across the BBC, providing strategic support, technical insight and high-quality reporting.

  • Corporate Finance, Group Finance, International Tax and other global stakeholders on statutory, technical accounting and cross-border reporting matters. Most global stakeholders are UK based so you will be required to manage different time zones.

  • Outsourced Record-to-Report (R2R) TCS team, to ensure strong service delivery, effective coordination of close and reporting activities, and alignment with control, governance and reporting expectations.

  • External auditors, tax advisers and relevant regulatory stakeholders to support audit delivery, compliance obligations and issue resolution.

  • Business stakeholders, including the APAC leadership team, to provide trusted financial guidance and support commercial and operational decision-making.
