Job Description - Head of Governance Office

Reporting to the Group Company Secretary and Corporate Counsel, you will drive the Responsible Business pillar of the Alliianz Australia (AAL) Sustainability strategy. This includes leading the strategy development to ensure Environmental Social Governance (ESG) integration and accountable leadership. You will also ensure compliance with the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) and Group Executive Accountability Regime (EAR) and maintain constructive regulatory relationships, such as leading engagement with ASIC and AFCA. Furthermore, it involves designing, implementing, and monitoring AAL governance models and related risk ownership frameworks to support responsible and ethical business practices.

About the role:
  • Lead the implementation and administration of the Allianz Governance Office, focusing on enterprise-wide governance for the Responsible Business pillar of the Sustainability Strategy.
  • Establish and monitor targets to track and report on success.
  • Integrate ESG governance across the enterprise through design, development, and implementation of an ESG model, policy, and monitoring plan.
  • Design strategic engagement plans with ASIC and AFCA to transform relationships into positive and proactive interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with forthcoming FAR law and Group EAR requirements, fostering a culture of accountability and proactive problem-solving.
  • Develop processes, policies, tools, and templates to support accountable leadership and governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in corporate governance, focusing on effective implementation of management committees, policy management, and conduct.
  • Monitor and maintain corporate governance models and frameworks, supporting decision-making with accurate governance reporting.
  • Lead annual System of Governance activities, ensuring effective stakeholder communication and implementation of recommendations.
  • Manage the Governance and Control Committee, supporting sustainability strategy through customer impact tracking and enhancement of the Conduct Dashboard.
  • Provide ongoing advice on regulatory, industry, and customer implications for Allianz Australia Limited (AAL).

About you:
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, law or similar or 7+ years experience in a regulatory, legal, risk or governance role.
  • Previous experience in a governance or policy role with relevant regulatory and legislative compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with regulators and government entities and industry bodies.
  • Experience empowering people to realise their highest potential by recognising and developing individual and team performance and building talent pipelines to safeguard current and future organisational needs.
  • Experience leading and management external consultants and vendors.
