About the Role

We are looking for an inspiring Head of Commissioning & Productions to lead NITV’s content initiatives. Join our Indigenous Executive team to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Your role will be pivotal in celebrating Indigenous storytelling and fostering cultural awareness through innovative content strategies.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the Commissioning, Internal Production, and Digital teams, promoting a high-performance and inclusive culture.
  • Work closely with the Director of Indigenous Content to implement content strategies and the NITV Business Unit annual plan.
  • Oversee the commissioning process from pitch to post-production, ensuring a continuous pipeline of quality programming.
  • Drive editorial strategy, ensuring content meets SBS’s standards and cultural expectations.
  • Build and nurture relationships with stakeholders, including Screen Agencies, other broadcasters, and Indigenous producers.
  • Collaborate with SBS Marketing, Communications, and public relations teams for effective program promotion.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of your team, fostering an inclusive environment.

About You

You are a passionate leader with a deep understanding of Indigenous culture and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Your visionary approach to content creation and strong interpersonal skills will drive NITV’s mission to celebrate and champion Indigenous storytelling.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A track record in commissioning and production, with a strong portfolio of successful projects, preferably Indigenous productions
  • A willingness to learn about and engage with Indigenous cultural experiences and protocols.
  • Exceptional people management skills, with a focus on coaching and mentoring.
  • Strong business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Innovative thinking to drive content strategies that engage and resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to supporting the career progression of diverse creatives.
