Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance - Consumer Law

Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance sought to join a leader in consumer focused products and services. This role will provide advice and support largely to Australia and to the growing APAC region. This newly scoped role will report into the Head of Investor Relations, managing a small team of 1-2 people. The key objective is to protect the interests of the organisation, mitigating risk, ensuring informed commercial decision making, while supporting the company's strategic objectives.
  
This is a fantastic opportunity for an up-and-coming Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance to establish themselves within an organisation which can offer a clear career development track to the Executive with an 18 - 24 month timeframe for the right candidate.
  
Role requirements:
  
Expert knowledge in primarily consumer law with solid experience in corporate law, contract law, employment law, privacy, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property as well as broad in-house experience across legal, risk and compliance is essential. You will play a key role in aligning legal strategies with overall business goals.
  
Leading and managing a high performing team which can provide quality services to the business, you will forge strong relationships with internal stakeholders including executives, employees, board members, external stakeholders, clients, regulatory authorities, as well as manage the providers of external legal services.
  
The capacity to think strategically and provide legal advice that supports the long-term goals and objectives of the organisation as well as identifying legal risks and potential legal challenges, and developing strategies to mitigate or address them is essential.
  
Unquestionable integrity and a commitment to ethical conduct to ensure the organisation's compliance with legal and ethical standards with strong problem-solving skills to address legal challenges creatively and find practical solutions and adept at analysing complex issues and proposing viable options.
  
The ideal candidate:
  
You will have at least 8 - 10 years post qualification experience with a background in consumer and corporate law. Having worked in a broad in-house legal function including either managing or working closely with operational risk and compliance is essential.
