Your Impact in This Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Group Internal Audit, you will provide strategic leadership over our assurance program covering the Bank's most critical financial and non-financial risks. You will be instrumental in executing our new 3-year strategy, moving from traditional auditing to a function that provides continuous, data-driven, and predictive assurance.

You will:

• Drive Strategic Assurance: Lead the independent assurance program across treasury, capital, credit, and market risk, along with prudential compliance and enterprise risk management.


• Become a Trusted Advisor: Build powerful relationships and provide objective, courageous challenges to executive management and the Board, offering insights that protect and strengthen the Bank.


• Champion Innovation: Drive the adoption of data analytics, AI-enabled techniques, and agile methodologies to deliver faster, broader, and deeper assurance.


• Lead a High-Performing Team: Mentor and develop a team of specialist audit professionals, building technical depth and fostering a culture of intellectual rigor and high performance.


• Shape the Future: Be a key driver in delivering our strategic roadmap, helping us transition from foundational strength (FY27) to a digitally-driven, predictive assurance function (FY28 and beyond).

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a seasoned leader with a passion for transformation and a deep understanding of the banking and financial services landscape. You are a strategic thinker who is as comfortable in the detail of prudential standards as you are in influencing executive-level stakeholders.

• Essential Experience: 12-15+ years in Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Financial Services Assurance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a regulated financial institution.


• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of APRA prudential standards, and extensive experience across capital, credit, liquidity, and market risk.


• Leadership Acumen: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, drive change, and build effective relationships at all levels.


• A Strategic Mindset: You can see the bigger picture, connect your work to business strategy, and provide commercial, value-adding recommendations.


• Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications (Finance, Accounting, Commerce) and CA/CPA certification. Membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors is highly regarded.
