Head of Technology, Business Transaction Banking, SME & Small Business

What’s the role?

As Head of Technology, Business Transaction Banking, SME, Small Business, you'll play a pivotal leadership role in shaping how millions of customers experience our Business Banking products every day.

Reporting to the CIO, Business & Wealth, you'll hold responsibility for technology strategy, and technical outcomes for the Business Transaction Banking(BTB) Delivery Unit. You will work closely with the Head of Technology, Cash & Transactional Banking to drive outcomes for BTB’s digital strategy.  In addition you'll ensure our SME and Small Business platforms remain secure, scalable and customer-centric. 

You'll partner closely with senior business leaders, product owners, risk, architecture and enterprise technology teams to deliver meaningful outcomes that support Westpac's strategic priorities. From modernising platforms and driving engineering capability to leading major change initiatives, you'll be at the forefront of transforming how Business & Wealth serves customers. 

This is a role for a strategic technology executive who can navigate complexity, lead through influence, drive a strong risk and control culture, and ensure technology remains a key enabler of growth, operational excellence and regulatory compliance. 

What do I need?

• Experience leading high-performing technology teams within complex regulated environments, with a very strong preference for Business Banking or Consumer Transaction Banking experience


• Proven success developing and executing technology strategies that deliver measurable business and customer outcomes


• Exceptional executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner at Group Executive and GM level.


• As a self-starter you have high levels of energy with demonstrable experience driving action and using resources outside your formal span of control


• Deep experience leading technology program delivery


• Strong understanding of technology risk, operational resilience, cyber security, governance and regulatory obligations.


• Commercially astute leader with experience prioritising investment, balancing risk and delivering value at scale.
