About the role


 


 


We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder to join our friendly and highly supportive coding team. This role focuses primarily on clinical coding, supported by a strong commitment to ongoing professional development. 


 


 


Working across both scanned and electronic medical records, you will gain exposure to a broad and diverse casemix. You will be supported with structured onboarding, ongoing education and guidance from experienced Coding Coordinators. To excel in this role, you will bring enthusiasm, motivation, a willingness to learn and the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment. Flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home, are available.

Key Responsibilities 


 



  • Timely, comprehensive and accurate coding of inpatient episodes using ICD‑10‑AM 



  • Participation in quality assurance and education initiatives 



  • Maintaining current knowledge in all areas of health information management 


 


About you 


 


 


Essential Criteria 


 



  • Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent) OR an approved clinical coding qualification 



  • Eligibility for full membership with the Health Information Management Association of Australia 



  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD‑10‑AM (13th edition) coding standards and guidelines 



  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and ongoing education 



  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively 



  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet targets and deadlines, and adapt effectively to change 


 


Desirable 


 



  • Minimum of two years’ experience in clinical coding and casemix data collection 



  • Understanding of Victorian reporting guidelines and coding advice 



  • Strong computer literacy 



  • Experience working with both electronic and scanned medical records 


 


 


Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
