This is an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter, working in our Mackay Workshop in Queensland. This position suits a trade qualified Fitter who enjoys working in a hands-on workshop environment, who takes pride in maintaining heavy mining equipment to a high standard and values working in a safe and well organised environment.

About the role 

• Perform diagnostics, fault finding and repairs on heavy mining equipment. 

• Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance in a workshop environment. 

• Complete safety documentation including inspections, JSA’s and SLAM’s. 

• Identify and communicate maintenance or safety issues promptly. 

• Maintain accurate records of work completed.

About the you:

Essential 

• Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter (Australian recognised qualification). 

• Experience in mining maintenance or heavy equipment environments. 

• Experience working on Caterpillar 789D or similar equipment. 

• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills.

• High commitment to health, safety and quality work. 

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

• Current Australian Open Drivers Licence.

• Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and random Drug & Alcohol screening. 

Licences & Qualifications 

• High Risk Work Licenses: 

• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) 

• Forklift (LF) 

• Overhead Gantry Crane 

• Non Slew Mobile Crane 

• Vehicle Loading Crane 

• Dogging 

• Rigging 

​Nationally recognised competencies (current within the last 2 years): 

• Enter and work in confined spaces 

• Gas test atmospheres 

• Work safely at heights 

• Current First Aid certificate
